Description
A descriptive paragraph uses specific details to create a clear idea of a place, time, person, or object. Descriptive paragraphs show rather than tell, and use details such as sensory details to help the reader construct a "picture" of the scene.
Describing Places
A
Messy Bedroom
My
son’s bedroom is always messy. For example, he rarely makes his bed or hangs up
his clothes. There are usually piles of clothes on the floor and chair. His schoolbooks
and papers are all over his desk. His favorite book is One Hundred years of
Solitude. The top of his dresser is covered with CDs, soda cans, and magazines.
I bought the dresser for him at a used furniturestore. I wish he would clean up
his room!
